Kidney Disease & Kidney Dysfunction
Kidney Disease Progression
Kidney disease can silently progress from normal kidney function to significant kidney disease, quickly. Early in my medical career, I noticed patients were showing up with complicated kidney disease without having any knowledge that there was a problem with their kidneys. I began to help these patients improve their kidney function and avoid dialysis.
Most patients first become aware of their kidney problems when their Doctor tells them their creatinine and/ or urea are elevated. The Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) may be low in addition. All these tests are saying that a patient’s kidneys are struggling to remove the waste. This is important because when the kidneys stop removing waste, it can back up and poisons the rest of the body. This could be the beginning of kidney failure if something does not change.
The Relationship to Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar
Blood pressure and blood sugar need to be co-managed in patients with kidney problems. Blood pressure is dependent on many things but the kidney's ability to regulate body fluids is a critical component. If body fluids build-up, the heart has to work harder at circulation. More fluids circulating can mean higher blood pressure. Additionally, a dysfunctional kidney can cause high blood pressure in other ways. It is critical that kidney function and blood pressure be co-managed.
High blood sugar can cause significant damage to the kidney's ability to filter. Over time, the kidney would stop filtering out large proteins and send them out into the urine. Instead of maximizing toxin removal, the kidney is inappropriately letting proteins out. This can be the beginning of significant damage to the sensitive tissues with the kidneys. Co-management of blood sugar and kidney health is critical to good kidney patient outcome.
Natural Treatments for Kidney Failure, Kidney Stones and Kidney Infections.
Are you looking for natural treatments for kidney failure, kidney stones or kidney infections? Many things can be done to nourish the kidneys, reduce the toxic byproducts such as urea and enhance the kidney's natural ability to detoxify itself. Any patients with reduced kidney function should be on a kidney enhancing protocol. Paying attention to your kidneys is critical because once kidney function is lost, it is typically not regained.
